Streamside Forest

Our most numerous species was the Fagus grandifolia. The Liriodendron tulipifera had the largest diameter and was then calculated to also be the oldest tree.  Since the diameter of the tree correlates directly to age it would be condusive that the tree with the largest diameter also is the oldest. This particular large tree also happened to be a double trunk tree that was located right beside the stream. As denoted by the diameter chart and the age chart provided; the diameter of the Liriodendron tulipifera was 240.5 cm and the age approximation was about 201 years. However, Quercus alba retained the selection of the tallest species in our plot. The range of gps coordinates in our plot was from N 35 54.860- N35 54.843, W 79 02.688- W79 02.267. The elevation of our plot was 482.475 feet above sea level.
